15 of the best nurseries and plant shops in Brisbane

How much do we love indoor plants now? Let me count the ways. Not only do our favorite indoor plants make boring interiors shine, they require (almost) no attention and don't cost a lot of money, which means you can buy all the succulents.

Since our Insta feed tells us that no stylish office, kitchen, living room or bedroom is complete without the inclusion of a viola or rubber plant, we've tracked down where to buy the best indoor plants in Brisbane. Let the obsession continue. Just try not to kill them, okay?

Fresh Saturday market

Stroll into the Saturday Fresh Marketplace on a warm Saturday morning to grab some fresh produce, fresh bread, and your morning coffee. The thing you won't be able to resist adding to your shopping bag here is the collection of vibrant leafy plants. Get in early for the best selection of aloe vera, jade and fig leaf plants.

Mabins Nursery and Aquarium

West end

The only one located near the West End Markets, Mappins Nursery & Aquarium is the place to pick up quality indoor plants. Specializing in cacti and succulents, Mappins has some wonderful and quirky options that will take your interior design game to the next level. If you're a fan of the game, the Medusa Head Sculpture is a great display piece.

If you want to be so overwhelmed by plant life that you might decide you need a bigger home for all your new purchases, The Nurso is the place to go. With no less than four hectares of indoor and outdoor plants to shop for, they also have an on-site café to eat at while you calm down and rethink your transportation plans (and maybe decide to buy a few plants instead). There is also live music on weekends and regular creativity classes if that's your thing.

If you're looking for a one-stop shop for all your plant and caffeine needs, you can't go past Epilo. You'll need to order a chai latte, coffee, or milkshake from the coffee table and take it to the mezzanine seating area where you can browse to your heart's content in search of a plant-based one (or five) to your heart's content. Don't go home without.

Oxley Nursery

When it comes to choosing indoor plants that can't be killed by even the most amateur black thumb, Oxley Nursery has you covered. From yellow-leafed succulents to money plants, choosing drought-tolerant plants is sure to put any first-time plant owner off to a good start.

Brookfield Garden Center

Brookfield Garden Center is one of the most beautiful nurseries in Brisbane and offers a full range of stunning indoor plants and gorgeous pots. But the highlight is that you can pair your plant shopping with a delicious brunch at the charming Wild Canary Café, less than 100 meters away.

Daisy Hill's Unveiling Poppy interior design is everything we want our living room to be. An oasis of suburban rugs, woven light hangings, stunning pots, and of course endless plant life, it's the place to browse for hours before taking all your finds home. What's more, it's located right next to St Coco's Café, so you can combine a visit with brunch for the perfect Sunday outing.

Plant hideout

This leafy spot is tucked away in the basement of an industrial building in Milton where you'll find abundant plant life paired with homewares, gifts, and best of all, New York-style cookies that you can munch on from the comfort of your comfy sofa. Doggos are welcome at The Plant Bunker, and you can even drag your non-vegan-loving friend along to explore the collection of handcrafted earrings and vintage finds.

Little Fox Lane

Shop full of pots and plants

Aspley's Little Fox Lane are actual interior design goals. Filled with pastel pots and perfectly arranged wicker baskets, each one of their plants is a picture of health (seriously, how are the leaves of their rubber plants so shiny? Is that just us?). In addition to plants and pots, you can stock up on plant foods and other essentials to keep your little ones happy.

Oasis plant nursery

Kelvin Grove

Oasis Plant Nursery in Kelvin Grove is a green space in which you will completely get lost. Wander down countless quiet paths and who knows what you'll come across. We love the stunning bonsai collection along with the interesting variety of indoor plants.

All things green

West end

This West End store has a huge selection of gorgeous green goodies. However, plants are not the only attraction at All the Green Things. While you're taking a relaxing stroll, browsing the shelves and looking at everything from solid favorites to rare items, you may also have the absolute blessed moment of meeting the store's resident dog, Ruby. In fact, if you're a dog lover as much as you love plants, you'll be able to stock up on pet-friendly greenery. Not to mention, there are some adorable animal-themed farms and pots here.

Borrowed nursery

Warehouse style store filled with plants

There's nothing off-putting about this woodland country estate, filled to the brim with more greenery than you can ever lay eyes on. You'll need to do this, which has been put off forever, at home before you make the trip to The Borrowed Nursery so that you have room for all the fiddle leaves, bird of paradise palms, Devil's Ivy, Dracaeans, and rubber plants. And the succulents, hanging ferns and plant accessories you'll inevitably leave with.

City Farm Nursery

City Farm Nursery knows plants. These guys are completely organic, and work according to sustainable farming principles. Not sure what that means? same. But wait, we know that all of the seedlings and plants from City Farm Nursery are grown from open pollinated heirloom seeds raised in their own soil mix. Get them for vegetable seedlings, herbs, bush plants, native plants, and plants that bees, butterflies, and more will love.

Small leaf decor

Plants and housewares are two of our favorite things, so we love that Little Leaf Decor combines the two. Here you'll find everything you need to make your living space completely Pinterest-worthy – pots of all sizes and shapes, wicker plant stands, side tables, rattan furniture, and of course plenty of plant life.

Soul store

Plants, classrooms, a cafe – what could be better? This is exactly what The Soul Pantry offers. A visit to the Stafford area will help you decorate your halls with lots of greenery. In addition to the collection of beautiful, lush indoor flowers, as well as the pots to put them in, you will also find flowers of the fresh and dried kind (for those who love nature, but know that keeping something alive is a lot of responsibility). There are a range of workshops on offer here too, so you can learn about everything from terrariums to living with plants in peace and harmony.
