One of Burlington and Hamilton’s favorite holiday traditions is back with a winter wonderland at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

From November 23 to January 7, Canada’s largest botanical garden is transforming its Hendry Park into a festive nighttime experience where guests can admire an array of dazzling lights, check out interactive installations, and enjoy delicious food and warm beverages.

Winter Wonderland takes place every Thursday through Sunday until January 7, 2024. Space is limited, so those interested in visiting are encouraged to obtain tickets soon.

Here’s everything to expect when you visit Winter Wonders:

Stroll through a magical winter wonderland

Guests are invited to embark on a journey along a 1.5 km trail decorated with magical lights, festive music, magic shows and interactive installations. Walk through rows of stunning light sculptures, or speak through the “Singing Tree” and watch it light up as it reacts to your voice!

With many beautiful sights along the park’s picturesque paths, Winter Wonders is a wonderful holiday spot to enjoy with friends and family, as well as an intimate setting perfect for a romantic night in.

It’s not just an outdoor experience – after your walk, you can get out of the cold and enjoy the seasonal displays indoors. Pass through the Breezeway and explore the beautiful, warmly lit Mediterranean Garden, and be sure to check out the massive Botanical Train Display, where 700kg of cedar filled with 2,500 plants forms a seasonal backdrop for seven different lines of model train tracks and scale models of Canadian landmarks Famous.

Festive food and drinks

The Royal Botanical Gardens team will be serving up a rotating menu of festive snacks and warm drinks at three stations along the walkway, perfect for warming up on a cold winter’s night.

Tasty food options include burgers, hot dogs, fries and wraps, while a variety of snacks will also be available including popcorn, cake, cotton candy and candy apples.

As for drinks, sip something hot with The Great One (coffee or hot chocolate with Canadian Wayne Gretzky cream, whipped cream and a candy cane topping) or choose from a selection of teas, ciders, wine, beer and more. Guests can have drinks in the indoor atrium bar before heading out for a walk, or at any of the stops along the way.

Live entertainment and more at RBG

In addition to the sights and sounds of Winter Wonders, there is a lineup of regular live music and performers for guests to enjoy, making every night of the event even more special.

For those planning a regular day trip to the Royal Botanic Gardens, a trip wouldn’t be complete without the RBG Express, ready to take guests on a relaxing train ride through the gardens. Not only is it fun, it’s a great opportunity to take some photos and videos for your social media!

After their visit, guests can stop by the gift shop to pick up a souvenir from the event or find the perfect holiday gift. The Shop at the Gardens features an ever-changing selection of home decor, jewelry, fashion, gardening tools, nature books, and more.

As the largest botanical garden in all of Canada, the Royal Botanic Gardens encompass 2,400 acres of beautiful gardens and nature across the cities of Burlington and Hamilton.

The wonderful attractions and range of events held here make it one of the most popular places in the city to visit all year round, and they are excited to bring back the winter wonderland for another fun holiday season.

Remember, space is limited at this event, so make sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.
