Alice E. Maynard, 86, of Meadville, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at the United Methodist Retirement Community in Westbury.
She was born on February 8, 1937, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John D. Lawrence and Thora L. Jackson Lawrence. She married James A. Maynard on June 15, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1976.
She was a 1954 graduate of Conneaut Valley High School and was employed by Spectrum Control. She was also a foster mother for over 20 years, and attended New Beginnings Church of God.
Alice enjoyed reading, cooking, and attending church activities, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and pets.
She is survived by two daughters, Delight D. Stevens and her husband, David L., of Girard and Darla D. Tipton and her husband, Troy, of Duncan, South Carolina; two sons, Darrell S.; Maynard of Erie and Darren S. Maynard and his wife, Rebecca M., of Meadville; grandchildren Andrew Tipton, Joshua Tipton, Abagail Tipton, Camden Maynard, Cohen Maynard, and Camilla Maynard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, James; She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth A. Lawrence. and two brothers, John C. Lawrence and Richard W. Lawrence.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday, November 21 from 2-4 PM at the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The burial ceremony will be held at four o’clock in the afternoon at the Martyrs’ Cemetery, followed by evening prayers.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
