From early spring through fall, it’s flower picking season in Rhode Island. There are plenty of farms in Rhode Island that offer an Instagram-worthy experience.

Where to Pick Your Tulips in Rhode Island

When does the season start: For early varieties of tulips, the season begins in early April. With the emergence of different varieties, the season will continue until mid-May.

  • Wicked Tulips: Wicked Tulips has two locations in Rhode Island. One in Exeter, at 400 Hog House Hill Road, which usually blooms first, and its original location in Johnston, 90 Brown Ave. Between the two farms, they have about 1.5 flowers during their season. In 2022, they had a modest field with lots of flowers. They charged $25 for a selection of Mason jar stems, which are about 15 stems, and did not require tickets.

When does the season start: Peonies usually begin flowering in mid-May and are at their best in June.

  • Electric Lunar Peony Farm: Unrivaled in the variety and quality of peonies, Electric Lunar Peony Farm, located at 43 Old Harbor Road, Little Compton, is a peony lover’s dream. They usually have a couple of “open houses” in June, where people can pick their own peonies the same way you would cut down your own Christmas tree. You pick it, and one of their pickers cuts it for you. Prices are $6 for an herbal leg and $9 for an Itoh leg, cash or check only.
