Hydrangeas, Japanese beetles and old oaks

We were in Colorado and missed the 4th of July in Ohio, but returned to the mix of hydrangeas that provided a red, white and blue welcome to our yard. There was the blue of 'Endless Summer', the reddish of 'Invincibelle Mini-Mauvette' and the white of a host of additional unnamed hydrangeas in our garden.

Without realizing it, we now have 18 hydrangeas, from several modern soft hydrangeas (Hydrangea bushes) Varieties, to old preparations of small tree/large shrub PG hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Grandflora'), planted before our arrival 35 years ago.
