Mama June breaks down in tears over the death of her daughter Anna Cardwell and tells fans ‘don’t send flowers’ to the funeral home
Anna passed away after a battle with stage 4 cancer late Saturday night at June’s home at the age of 29.
June, 44, shared a lengthy video message via TikTok just hours after breaking the tragic news in person on Sunday.
A devastated June faced the camera via text: “Continuing to pray for our family.”
“Hey, I hate that I’m making this post,” she began shakily, “It’s about time.”
“Anna passed away peacefully at my home at 11:12pm yesterday.

“Actually, it’s 11 a.m., but she was pronounced (dead) at 11:12.
“She died peacefully at my home with her sisters, with me, (June’s husband) Justin, (Anna’s boyfriend) Eldridge, her children and other family members.”
“I loved every single one of you. This man put up a hell of a fight for ten months.
“She won her battle because she no longer suffered,” June continued, patting her chest as her eyes bore into each other.

“She lived at my house (for) three weeks and one day.
“I’m glad she felt comfortable, and I just want to say, continue to pray for our family during this difficult time, and we will update you…”
“We ask that flowers not be sent to the funeral home because we will be preparing some things for (Anna’s daughters.) Kaitlyn and Kylie for their future just as Anna wanted.”
“Just know she’s up in the sky dancing because you’re going to love it.”
June then took a moment to cry and had to steady herself before concluding, “We love you guys.”
“Poor pretty girl.”
Social media users flooded the comments with messages of love.
“I can’t imagine watching your child/sister/mother slowly die for over three weeks. So sorry for them all,” one person wrote while the video was being shared on Reddit.
“Poor beautiful girl. Rest in peace,” another wrote.
Mama June shared details about the funeral in a Facebook post shortly after.
“Anna’s services are as follows for anyone who would like to come and say goodbye. Please respect our family as this means a lot to her girls and to us as a family,” she shared.
“Thank you everyone for reaching out to the family. We see you and we love you.”
Viewing will be held Wednesday from 2pm to 3pm, with services to follow at Williams Funeral Home in Gordon, Georgia.
A devastating loss
John’s eldest daughter died late Saturday night, and the mother-of-four confirmed the heartbreaking news a day later on social media.
June revealed on Sunday that Anna lost her battle with cancer on Facebook.
“It is with a broken heart that we announce that Anna is no longer with us. She passed away peacefully at my home last night at 11:12 p.m.,” she wrote.
“She fought a hellish battle for 10 months and died with her family around her like she never would and we will update you all with more information as we get it today.”
“We love you all and continue to pray and thoughts for our family during this difficult time,” she concluded.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer in January.
In July, the star said her daughter’s diagnosis was final.
“For me, it’s an emotional journey sometimes,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“Mentally, it’s always on my mind. We know it’s final.”
“She’s in stage four. She’s not going to go into remission. We’ve all accepted that, so I’ll tell people one day at a time, because you never know,” June added.
Upon her death, Mama June’s husband, Justin Stroud, posted a photo on his Instagram account to announce his stepdaughter’s death.
The photo showed the entire family sitting on what appeared to be the set of the TLC show, which was shared by several other family members.
He captioned the post: “Please keep our family in your prayers as we lost one of our angels last night. She passed away last night at our home peacefully with the people important to her.”
“Please be respectful and we will keep you posted on everything. We love you, Anna Banana.”
Anna’s tragic transformation
Anna has appeared in her family’s hit TV shows, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Doodlers & Tiaras.
She was also influential and earned the nickname Chickadee.
Anna has stayed out of the spotlight following her stints on the TLC shows, but she made headlines in March 2023 when her cancer diagnosis became public.
Before her diagnosis, Anna complained of stomach pain in January.
She began to lose her hair and her ability to eat in the coming months.
Adrenal cancer is a type of cancer found in the liver, kidneys and lungs.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Kaitlyn, 10, and Kylie, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband Michael.
Anna is also survived by three sisters – Alana and Lauren “Pumpkin” Efird, 23, and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 26, who fans have seen on the family’s multiple reality shows.
Anna has been estranged from June – who tied the knot in January with Justin, 35 – for many years, although the pair reconciled when Anna fell ill.
