Schroeder, Lillian Marie Lillian Marie Schroeder passed away at her home in Edina on September 6, 2023. Lil was born in Buffalo, Minnesota, and spent her formative years on her family’s farm. Leal met her husband, Arvid, during their time in the Koinonians, an active youth group at Central Lutheran Church. Their relationship with their friends from this group has remained strong over the years. Professionally, Leal was a gifted physical therapist, devoting her skills to various healthcare organizations, including Fairview Hospital and Southdale Physical Therapy Clinic. In 1999, she proudly established her successful clinic. While working, she met Sabine Boschatz from Germany, who quickly became not just a patient but a dear friend, united by Lille’s German heritage. This association prompted Lyell to embark on numerous trips to Germany to visit Sabine and her family. Lil and Arvid shared a deep love of travel, having explored all fifty states, most of Canada, and an impressive thirty-five other countries. Their adventures have enriched their lives in countless ways. She had a lifelong passion for tending her garden, which was decorated with a vibrant array of hostas. In addition, Lyell was an avid collector of antique dolls. Her collection was a source of great joy and pride for her, and was admired by everyone who had the honor of seeing it. In 1970, Leal and Arvid were fortunate to join Crossview Lutheran Church, which at the time was a missionary congregation. Here they found many opportunities for service. Leal has dedicated over 25 years of her life as President of the Altar Guild, served on the Fine Arts Committee, and generously offered her expertise as a wedding consultant. Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lily Brusca, and her brothers, Alvin and Theodore. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years Arvid, her loving son Justin (Nicky), and her cherished granddaughters, Vivian and Juliet. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Olga, sisters-in-law Sheila Brusca and Dorothy Dornfeld, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Cross View Lutheran Church, 6645 McCauley Trail West, Edina, on Sept. 21 at 11 a.m., followed by brunch at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to LCMS World Relief and Human Care, a cause close to Leal’s heart. washburn-mcreavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
