Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden – Royal Central

June is Royal Wedding Month in Sweden, and a particular date is filled with memories of the royal wedding. King Carl Selected cream and green flowers for their bouquets. But their wedding settings had a lot to set them apart, too. Here’s a look at the wedding flowers for Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.

Sylvia’s bouquet included orchids and jasmine. Placed in a medium-sized cascade, they are arranged alongside stephanotis and lily of the valley for a very traditional twist on wedding flowers. Another tradition was also observed in which Sylvia’s bouquet contained sprigs of myrtle taken from a shrub planted in Soviero by Margaret Connaught, her new husband’s grandmother.

There was plenty of tradition, too, when Carl Gustaf and Silvia’s eldest daughter, Crown Princess Victoria, married in 2010. She also added myrtle soviero to the bouquet she carried at the service at Stockholm Cathedral, exactly 34 years old. Since her parents got married there.

However, Victoria’s bouquet was more floral than usual at a royal wedding. The Crown Princess of Sweden chose to honor many of her country’s most famous flowers by adding them to her wedding selections and mixing them with favorite flowers used at many weddings.

Victoria’s bouquet contains lily of the valley, peonies, roses and orchids as well as sweet peas, gardenias and clematis. They were mixed with cosmos, azaleas, waxflower and bleeding heart while Dicentra Formosa, lilies and Marbacka pelargonium were also used. They were all arranged in a medium-sized bouquet that fell into a scattered cascade.

Both bouquets had all the vibes of a traditional bridal suite while leaving their individual mark. They remain a royal wedding classic to this day.
