The heart of this celebration lies in the diverse and captivating idols of Lord Ganesha that adorn every corner of the city.
In every nook and cranny, skilled craftsmen poured their hearts and souls into carving these magnificent idols, each a unique masterpiece. The streets of Indore turn into an open-air fair, where idols of all sizes, from small portables to towering installations, vie for attention.
Homes and guerrillas are decorated with vibrant decorations. Colorful rangoli patterns will decorate the doorways and strands of marigold flowers will add a fragrant touch to the ambiance. The fidayeen are seen in various guises embracing the arrival of Ganapati across the city. Some of them are theme based, artistic, socially conscious, replica of the temple, technologically advanced to basic traditional and eco-friendly. There are more than 2 lakh devotees ready to welcome Lord Ganesha. Idols are seen as environmentally friendly compared to POP idols. The price of clay idols is relatively higher than that of POP idols in the market. The markets are very crowded with people.
Ganesh Utsav idols are customized in different styles with completely different God and Goddess. The magical poses and vibrant colors of the idols captivate the eye. Decoration with fresh flowers and twinkling lights are show stoppers.
The city is brightened up by women and girls throughout the fast on the eve of Hartalika Teej, when beautifully decorated temples are open all night. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival will begin with the blessing of the Khajrana Ganesh Temple, where the temple is decorated with flowers and green leaves. Lord Ganesha will be adorned with gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 to 3 crore. City Collector Ilaiyaraja T and Commissioner Harishka Singh will present the flag to Lord Ganesha at 9 am.
At that time, 1,15,000 laddus will be offered to Ganesha which will be distributed to the devotees later. Hence the city is all set to welcome Ganapati Baba in a grand manner. Muhurat Puja is given below: 9.48-12 AM, 3.30-5 PM, 6.30-7 PM, 8-9.30 PM
