The Kidsspace Children’s Museum offers an array of fall activities for kids, from handling the harvest and pumpkin decorating to fashion shows and more.
As summer days gradually give way to milder temperatures and smaller crowds in the greater Los Angeles area, it’s time to embrace the festive excitement lingering in the air. Fortunately for you, you don’t need to search far and wide for a solid list of Fall-o-ween fun.
At Kidsspace Children’s Museum, located 20 minutes northeast of downtown Los Angeles, you can experience a wonderful array of fall activities for kids (and parents alike!) rooted in family bonding, seasonal excitement, and play-based learning from now through October.
From outdoor harvest fairs to costume shows and Halloween celebrations, you’ll get into the fall spirit. Read on to discover each event so you and your family can prepare for the season of togetherness!
1. Harvest fun at Muddy Boot Farm
It’s harvest season at Muddy Boot Farm, Kidspace’s unique farm-to-table play space where kids run the whole show — perfect for back-to-school play with your best friends. Help your little farmers use a mock wheelbarrow to prepare fall crops, pick produce from planting boxes, and explore an oversized chicken coop to pick out their favorite eggs. If you have a young entrepreneur, head to a farm stand where they can run it themselves and operate the cash register, or serve mock meals at a Muddy Boot restaurant.
2. First Friday is free
Book a parent group meeting on the first Friday of every month at the Kidspace Children’s Museum. Known as Free First Fridays, parents and children can explore the museum’s 3.5-acre campus (for free!) during the evening from 4 to 7 p.m. You will have the opportunity to hang out with your friends while joining in the fun with your friends. Young learners across 40 interactive galleries and outdoor exhibits. Watch them ride a one- or two-seater tricycle along a small trail, dig for fossils, see an active beehive, or climb through an underground ant tunnel. Tip for parents: reserve your tickets in advance on their website!
3. Halloween celebration at Kidsspace Children’s Museum
Halloween lovers, this game is for you. Kidsspace Magical Season begins on Thursday, September 28 and runs until the end of October. Enjoy the timeless tradition of pumpkin decorating with your little ones for just $4, meet a slithering snake up close, and watch a magician put on an enchanting show. It will get your whole clan ready for the holiday!
4. Daily costume parades
If your child won’t stop begging to go to school dressed as Barbie or Spider-Man, Kidspace has everything you need to drown out their pleas. As part of their month-long Halloween celebration, the museum invites children to center stage at daily costume shows where they can walk, dance and show off their most festive ensemble. For a little extra sparkle to their look, showgoers can create their own Fashion accessories at the on-site Imagination Workshop. Walks are held on weekdays at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and on weekends at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
